Immigration Numbers for September 2005

August 15, 2005

The State Department has released the Immigrant Visa Bulletin for September 2005. In the employment-based categories, the EB3 category remains unavailable for all countries. By contrast, the EB2 category remains current for all countries.

The bulletin indicates that when the new fiscal year begins on October 1, cut-off dates will remain in the EB3 category for people born in China, India, the Philippines, and possibly Mexico. The Bulletin also predicts that cut-off dates may be imposed in the employment-based 2 category for people born in China and India "no later than December 2005." It also states that cut-off dates may be established in the EB1 category for people born in China and India. Finally, the bulletin indicates that once established, the movement of cut-off dates is likely to be slow.
