Since 1985,Stern Elkind Curray & Alterman has limited its practice to immigration law, with a special emphasis on matters relating to the employment of foreign professionals. Mr. Stern and Ms. Elkind founded the firm with the goal of providing the very best immigration advice and representation to our clients. Concurrently Filed I-140/I-485 Cases Will Be Adjudicated Concurrently

May 15, 2004

A procedural guidance memo from Fujie Ohata, Director of Service Center Operations, dated March 31, 2004 instructs the CIS service centers to process concurrently filed I-140s and I-485 together based on the I-140 receipt date. I-485s filed concurrently will no longer be tracked based on the local I-485 processing time. If required to complete the processing, RFEs for both the I-140 petition and I-485 application will be sent at the same time. The new procedures were to be implemented no later than April 30, 2004.
