In order for a family member to gain residence, You must be able to provide documentation proving the relationship, and must prove that you can support your relative at 125% above the mandated poverty line. Generally, the person who files for residence for a family member is a citizen or permanent resident that files an immigrant visa petition on behalf of their close relative.
